Low Risk 1 / 5

The beaches near Hotel Wailea — Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, and Polo Beach — are among the cleanest and most consistently excellent beaches on Maui. Wailea's South Shore position means it receives fewer storms, less runoff, and benefits from the dry, clear conditions that characterize South Maui.

The DOH regularly monitors Wailea beaches and testing results are almost always excellent. The absence of major streams, limited agricultural land nearby, and the dry South Maui climate all contribute to outstanding water quality. Ulua Beach, the closest beach to Hotel Wailea, also offers some of Maui's best shore snorkeling along its northern rocky reef.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

The DOH recommends 72 hours out of the water after heavy rain. Wailea beaches recover quickly due to their dry climate and lack of major runoff, but the rule still applies after any significant rainfall.
