Low Risk 1 / 5

Napili Kai Beach Resort sits on one of Maui's finest swimming bays. Napili Bay is consistently rated among the best snorkeling and swimming beaches on Maui, with naturally protected waters, excellent water clarity, and minimal runoff sources.

The bay is protected by a natural reef that runs across its mouth, reducing wave action and creating the calm, clear conditions that make Napili Bay special. The surrounding landscape is primarily residential and resort development, with minimal agricultural runoff compared to other parts of Maui. The DOH monitoring data for Napili Bay consistently shows excellent water quality.

Snorkeling at Napili Bay is excellent, particularly along the rocky reef edges. Green sea turtles are frequently spotted, and the variety of tropical fish is impressive. The calm, clear water makes it accessible even for beginner snorkelers.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

The DOH recommends 72 hours out of the water after heavy rain. Napili Bay recovers quickly due to good ocean flushing, but the rule still applies after any significant rain event on West Maui.
