What to expect for water quality, rainfall, and ocean conditions

June Conditions at Wailea Beach
June Advisory Risk Very Low

Wailea Beach has one of the lowest advisory rates in Hawaii. The dry climate and lack of stream discharge mean water quality is consistently excellent.

🌧️ Rainfall & Runoff

June is ideal at Wailea: dry, warm, with calm south-shore conditions. Water quality is consistently excellent. Summer tourism begins increasing but the beach is never as crowded as Waikiki.

🌊 Ocean Conditions

Summer occasionally brings south swells to Wailea, which can create larger-than-usual surf for this typically calm beach. Water temperature is warm (79-80°F). Check surf reports for unusual south-swell events.

👥 Crowd Levels

High. Summer is peak family travel season with school holidays. Beaches are busy from mid-morning through sunset.

If It Looks Brown, Don't Swim
Never enter the ocean when the water appears brown or murky, even if no advisory is posted. Hawaii is often slow to test beaches and update advisories — not every beach is monitored. After heavy rain, wait at least 72 hours and until the water clears before swimming.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

The Hawaii Department of Health recommends staying out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after heavy rain. In june, rainfall is less frequent but individual storms can still produce contaminated runoff.
