June Conditions at Haleiwa Beach
June Advisory Risk Low

Dry conditions and reduced Anahulu River flow make Haleiwa Beach a good swimming option. Water quality is generally good during summer, especially away from the river mouth.

🌧️ Rainfall & Runoff

June is dry at Haleiwa with about 1 inch of rain. The Anahulu River runs lower, reducing contaminated discharge. The beach park is calm and suitable for swimming. The surf town is less crowded than winter.

🌊 Ocean Conditions

Summer brings calm conditions to Haleiwa Beach Park. The bay provides a sheltered swimming area. Water is warm (79-80°F). The calm ocean allows kayaking, SUP, and swimming. The Anahulu River creates a slight current near its mouth.

👥 Crowd Levels

Moderate. The North Shore is quieter in summer without surf competitions. Haleiwa town attracts visitors for food and shopping, with some beach time at the park.

📌 June Notes
The Anahulu River discharges at Haleiwa Beach, carrying contaminated runoff from the agricultural and residential watershed. Avoid swimming near the river mouth after rain. The historic rainbow bridge marks the river outfall location.
Summer is the safest time for ocean swimming on most Oahu beaches, with smaller surf and fewer water quality advisories.
If It Looks Brown, Don't Swim
Never enter the ocean when the water appears brown or murky, even if no advisory is posted. Hawaii is often slow to test beaches and update advisories — not every beach is monitored. After heavy rain, wait at least 72 hours and until the water clears before swimming.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

The Hawaii Department of Health recommends staying out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after heavy rain. In june, rainfall is less frequent but individual storms can still produce contaminated runoff.
