Family Beach Safety Tips for Maui
  • Always swim near a lifeguard station when possible
  • Apply reef-safe, mineral-based sunscreen (Hawaii law requires it)
  • Avoid swimming within 72 hours of heavy rain
  • Keep children away from stream mouths even on sunny days
  • Teach children: if the water looks brown or murky, donʻt go in
  • Rent a rash guard — protects from sun and jellyfish
  • Check jellyfish forecasts — box jellyfish arrive ~10 days after full moon
