Historical Bacteria Risk
⚠ Historical rating — based on long-term data, not current conditions.
Moderate-Low Risk 2 / 5

The Marriott Maui Ocean Club sits on Kaʻanapali Beach, West Maui's premier resort beach. Kaʻanapali has moderate-low bacteria risk — better than many Oahu beaches but not quite as clean as South Maui's Wailea strip. West Maui receives more rainfall than the drier south shore and has some streams that can affect water quality after rain.

The Kaʻanapali Beach stretch, including the Marriott's frontage, generally tests clean during normal weather. The DOH monitors the area regularly. The water is typically clear with good visibility for snorkeling at nearby Black Rock.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

Stay out for at least 72 hours after heavy rain. West Maui streams and occasional flash flooding can temporarily elevate bacteria in the Kaʻanapali area.
