Miloliʻi Beach

Water quality & guide to Hawaii's last traditional fishing village

📍 South Kona, Big Island — Remote, no lifeguards, respectful visits only

Checking live advisories…
Remote Location — Be a Respectful Visitor
Miloliʻi is a living Hawaiian community, not a tourist attraction. Use only the public beach park area. No lifeguards. No cell service in the village. Steep, narrow access road — drive slowly.
Historical Bacteria Risk
Low Risk 1 / 5

Miloliʻi sits on the South Kona coast, one of the Big Island's most pristine coastlines. The remote location, low population density, and clean open-ocean water create excellent water quality. The DOH does not regularly monitor this area due to its remoteness, but historical data and geographic factors indicate very low contamination risk. The South Kona coast benefits from the same clean conditions as nearby two-step and Kealakekua Bay.

⚠️ After Heavy Rain

South Kona can receive heavy rainfall on the upper slopes. Wait 48 hours after significant rain before swimming. Visually check the water — if it looks murky, come back another day.
