About Sheraton Kauaʻi Resort

The Sheraton Kauaʻi Resort sits right on Poipu Beach on the sunny South Shore of Kauaʻi, one of the driest and most reliably sunny areas on the island. While the North Shore may be getting drenched, Poipu often stays clear — making it a popular base for visitors who want guaranteed beach weather. The resort spans both sides of the point, with Poipu Beach Park to the east and the dramatic surf at Shipwreck Beach to the west. The South Shore's cluster of beaches, tide pools, and snorkeling spots are all within a few minutes' drive of the hotel.

Nearby Beaches — Ranked by Proximity
Right next to hotel, lifeguards
2 min walk
Adjacent
Brennecke Beach Low ●
Brennecke Beach is a small pocket of sand just east of Poipu Beach Park, known for its steep shore break that makes it a local favorite for bodysurfing and boogie boarding. The break is powerful and can cause injuries for inexperienced swimmers — watch for warning signs. The beach is tiny and can feel crowded, but the wave action makes it one of the most fun spots on the South Shore.
3 min walk
East
Shipwreck Beach High ●
Shipwreck Beach fronts the Grand Hyatt Poipu and features a dramatic coastline with high cliffs that adventurous (or reckless) visitors jump from. The beach itself has strong currents and a powerful shore break that makes swimming risky most of the time. It is better suited for beachcombing, photography, and watching the cliff jumpers. The start of the Māhāʻulepū Heritage Trail is at the east end.
10 min walk
East
Baby Beach Poipu Low ●
A few minutes west on Poʻipū Road, Salt Pond Beach Park in nearby Hanapepe is one of the last functioning Hawaiian salt ponds, where locals still harvest sea salt using traditional methods. The shallow, sandy-bottomed swimming area is perfect for very young children. Weekend barbecues and camping make it a local family gathering spot.

West
Salt Pond Beach Low ●
Farther west along the coast, Salt Pond offers a protected swimming area behind a natural rock breakwater with a sandy bottom and gentle conditions ideal for beginners. The beach park has pavilions, restrooms, and grassy areas for picnicking. It draws far fewer tourists than Poipu, giving it a more authentic local atmosphere.
