Beaches Near Spouting Horn

Spouting Horn, Poipu, Kauaʻi — historical water-quality risk and typical beach features

Drive times and historical water-quality risk levels for beaches near Spouting Horn, Poipu, Kauaʻi. Risk ratings are based on long-term DOH bacteria testing data and geography, not current measurements. Always check current Kauaʻi advisories before swimming — conditions change after rain.

About the Spouting Horn Area

Spouting Horn is a natural lava-tube blowhole on Kauaʻi's south shore. It is a roadside viewing stop with parking and views of the rocky coastline; there is no swimming beach at the blowhole itself. Nearby Poʻipū beaches have different ocean conditions. Lower average rainfall does not establish current bacteria levels or recovery after rain; check the current named DOH notices above.

Nearby Beaches — Ranked by Proximity
Poipu Beach Park Historical risk: Low ●
Poipu Beach Park has a sheltered wading area and an open-ocean side, with lifeguards and occasional Hawaiian monk seal sightings. Stream proximity does not establish today's bacteria levels. Check the current DOH notices above; a sample or advisory at a nearby named station is not a test result for every part of the park.

East
Brennecke Beach Historical risk: Low ●
Brennecke Beach sits immediately east of Poipu Beach Park and attracts bodysurfers and boogie boarders. Its powerful shore break demands caution. Coastal exposure and stream proximity cannot establish current water quality; check today's DOH notices and local conditions.
5 min
East
Baby Beach Poipu Historical risk: Low ●
Baby Beach Poipu is a small reef-sheltered cove, with no lifeguards or facilities and limited roadside parking. Water depth, waves, currents, and water quality vary. Shelter does not establish safe conditions for children; check today's notices and local conditions, and supervise children closely.
5 min
East
Shipwreck Beach Historical risk: High ●
Shipwreck Beach (Keoneloa Bay) stretches below the Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi with lithified sand cliffs that attract cliff-jumpers. Strong currents and pounding shore break make swimming inadvisable for most visitors. The Mahaʻulepu Heritage Trail begins at the east end and follows the coast past ancient sand dunes — one of Kauaʻi's best coastal hikes.
