November Conditions at Electric Beach
November Advisory Risk Low

Electric Beach on the dry leeward coast has minimal advisory history. Even during the wet season, this coastline receives very little rain. The warm water outfall from the power plant does not add bacteria.

🌧️ Rainfall & Runoff

November sees modest rainfall increase at Electric Beach (1-1.5 inches). The leeward coast stays drier than the rest of the island. The warm water outfall continues regardless of season.

🌊 Ocean Conditions

The warm water outfall from the Kahe Power Plant raises water temperature 3-5°F above surrounding ocean. This attracts dolphins, sea turtles, and tropical fish year-round. Winter north swells can wrap around to affect the leeward coast, creating moderate surf. Snorkeling is best on calm days. Current can be strong near the outfall pipe.

👥 Crowd Levels

Low to moderate. Electric Beach has a dedicated following of snorkelers and divers. Fewer visitors during winter months. The small parking lot rarely fills on weekdays.

📌 November Notes
The warm water outfall from the Kahe Power Plant attracts spinner dolphins, sea turtles, and large schools of tropical fish. Best snorkeling is near the outfall pipe on calm days. Enter from the sandy area, not the rocky points. Strong current can develop near the pipe.
If It Looks Brown, Don't Swim
Never enter the ocean when the water appears brown or murky, even if no advisory is posted. Hawaii is often slow to test beaches and update advisories — not every beach is monitored. After heavy rain, wait at least 72 hours and until the water clears before swimming.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

The Hawaii Department of Health recommends staying out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after heavy rain. In november, this is especially important as wet-season storms can produce heavy rainfall and significant runoff.
