June Conditions at Kailua Beach
June Advisory Risk Low

Dry season brings reduced rainfall to the windward coast. Kailua Beach water quality is generally excellent during summer months.

🌧️ Rainfall & Runoff

June brings drier conditions even to the windward coast. Kailua gets about 1-1.5 inches. The Kawainui Marsh wetland system filters more effectively with lower water volume. Beach water quality is good.

🌊 Ocean Conditions

Windward shores are calm in summer with gentle trade wind swells. Water is warm (79-80°F) and clear. Excellent conditions for kayaking to the Mokulua Islands. Light onshore breeze in the afternoon.

👥 Crowd Levels

High. Summer is peak family travel season with school holidays. Beaches are busy from mid-morning through sunset.

📌 June Notes
Summer is the safest time for ocean swimming on most Oahu beaches, with smaller surf and fewer water quality advisories.
If It Looks Brown, Don't Swim
Never enter the ocean when the water appears brown or murky, even if no advisory is posted. Hawaii is often slow to test beaches and update advisories — not every beach is monitored. After heavy rain, wait at least 72 hours and until the water clears before swimming.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

The Hawaii Department of Health recommends staying out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after heavy rain. In june, rainfall is less frequent but individual storms can still produce contaminated runoff.
