Historical Bacteria Risk — Waikiki Beach
⚠ Historical rating — based on long-term data, not current conditions.
Medium Risk 3 / 5

The Ritz-Carlton Waikiki faces the iconic Waikiki shoreline, where water quality is rated Medium due to the proximity of the Ala Wai Canal. On dry days during extended periods without rain, water quality is generally good — Waikiki's open ocean exposure provides reasonable flushing. The hotel is in central Waikiki, one of the most monitored beach areas in the state.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences opened in 2018 and is one of Waikikiʻs newest luxury properties. The rooftop pool offers stunning ocean and Diamond Head views for days when beach conditions are not ideal. City and County lifeguards patrol the Waikiki shoreline every day.

⚠️ The 72-Hour Rain Rule

After heavy rain, stay out of Waikiki for at least 72 hours. The Ala Wai Canal drains the entire Manoa and Palolo valleys and empties near Waikiki. Use the rooftop pool on rainy days.
